Bradley Cooper & Margot Robbie’s Ocean’s Eleven Prequel Finds New Director – Report

A new update has emerged regarding the planned Ocean’s Eleven prequel involving Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie. Recent reports indicate that the project may have found a new filmmaker following the departure of its previous director.

Bradley Cooper eyed to write and direct Ocean’s 11 prequel

Bradley Cooper is being considered to write and direct the Ocean’s Eleven prequel for Warner Bros., according to a report shared by Puck founding partner Matthew Belloni. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Fun news: Bradley Cooper is now the choice to write and direct the Ocean’s 11 prequel for WB. (Lee Isaac Chung recently dropped out).” He added that Cooper would also star with Margot Robbie.

Matthew Belloni also clarified in the same post that the parties have not finalized negotiations. He wrote, “No deals yet, but goal is to shoot this year.” Warner Bros. is developing the project as a prequel to the Ocean’s Eleven franchise, and the plan would have Cooper both direct the film and star in it alongside Robbie.

This development follows the recent departure of director Lee Isaac Chung from the same project. A report from Deadline stated that Chung exited after an “amicable split due to creative differences” with Warner Bros. Lee Isaac Chung had previously signed on to direct the prequel before departing the production in March 2026, according to the report.

Warner Bros. and LuckyChap, the production company co-founded by Margot Robbie, released a joint statement following Chung’s departure. The statement said, “Lee Isaac is a singular filmmaking talent whose vision and partnership have been invaluable to Warner Bros. and LuckyChap throughout this journey.” The companies said the collaboration strengthened interest in future projects, moving forward later.

Details about the prequel’s plot remain limited, although earlier reports indicated that the story takes place in 1960s Europe. Initial reports linked Ryan Gosling to star opposite Margot Robbie before Bradley Cooper reportedly replaced him in the role. Reports have also identified Benicio del Toro as part of the cast, playing a villain connected to the film’s heist storyline.
