Zack Snyder recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo of actor Wayne T. Carr portraying the DC character John Stewart, also known as Green Lantern.

The image was posted on Snyder’s Instagram account ahead of the fifth anniversary of the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. In the caption accompanying the image, Snyder wrote, “@waynetcarr as John Stewart. A hero we planned to bring into the Justice League story. Some paths remain unseen… but the green glow is still out there.”

Zack Snyder cast Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and filmed a brief cameo intended for the film’s final sequence. However, the director’s cut ultimately did not include the scene. Reports state that Warner Bros. executives prevented Snyder from using the Green Lantern character because the studio had separate plans involving the property.

Snyder initially planned for Carr’s Green Lantern to appear during the film’s concluding scene, where the character would meet Bruce Wayne. Warner Bros. did not approve the cameo, leading the filmmakers to remove the scene from the completed film. The final version instead introduced Martian Manhunter in the closing sequence alongside Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne.

Snyder shared the image while posting several photos connected to the upcoming anniversary of the film’s release. Earlier posts included images featuring Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, the original Zack Snyder’s Justice League poster, and the villain Darkseid. Snyder also wrote in another anniversary-themed message, “Eight days from now we mark the fifth anniversary of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”

Audiences never saw Wayne T. Carr’s appearance after the filmmakers removed the cameo from the final cut. Snyder’s post revealed a new look at the filmed material he originally planned for the Justice League storyline.

In the caption, the director reiterated that the character was intended to be part of the Justice League narrative but did not appear in the released version of the film.
